Membership

We invite new members to join Nelson Orienteering Club and for existing members to renew their membership. Membership runs from 1 January to 31 December annually. You can join any time of the year but if you register early you'll get the most out of discounted event fees. 

Any member joining the Club during or after September, but before January of the next year, is only required to pay 50% of the subscription fee.

NOC Membership benefits

  • Discounted membership fees to club level orienteering events, using pre-registration;
  • A monthly email newsletter with background information regarding past and future events, education and training opportunities
  • Skill development opportunities;
  • Club members of the Club are eligible for financial support for representing New Zealand at international level; 
  • Junior members of the Club are eligible for financial assistance for attendance at training events and international event fees;
  • Access to orienteering training sessions;
  • Access to training camps;
  • "Giving back" by helping to organise small and big club events;
  • Affiliation to Orienteering New Zealand confers the right to compete in A-grade events (national and regional competitions) throughout New Zealand.  Non-affiliates must pay a rather heavy one-day affiliation fee for these events.

* A family is two seniors (21 years or older) and any number of juniors.

** An associate member can be a school or a sportsclub

Membership application and payment

All New Zealand based orienteering clubs organise their membership administration in the centralised electronic membership database Revolutionise, hosted by Orienteering New Zealand (ONZ). ONZ needs to collect membership information to:

  • comply with the new Incorporated Societies Act 2022;
  • provide information to Sport NZ to support our Community Sport Investment;
  • email all members the monthly Compass Point Orienteering email newsletter and
  • set the annual club affiliation fee.

NOC has access to their members' information through the club portal. Clubs cannot see members information from other clubs. Members can only see their own information.

New NOC members

JOIN NOC (New Members only)

Please submit your details online via the blue 'JOIN NOC' button. Joining is easily completed online. Everyone needs to register individually, whether you are joining as a senior or junior individual or family.

When completing a Family Membership you must create an account for each person and enter all their details. Please then email the club at noc.secretary@gmail.com and state who is the "Primary Adult" and list the names of whole family. This allows us to link the family together in the background so we can easily track and reconcile payments. You will be sent an email with the invoice details, club bank account and also a Reference to use when paying.

Existing NOC members

There is no need to renew your membership via the Revolutionise website. Just pay your membership by direct credit to the (new) NOC bank account: 03-1354-0601318-00, Account Name Nelson Orienteering Club Incor

Existing NOC members will receive a personalised reminder email in the beginning of the new year, explaining the method to renew their membership.
