Each year, MOC and NOC combined run an Orienteer of the Year (OY) competition across all the grades and levels, per club, known as the Pelorus Challenge. This competition is not just for elite orienteers, they are for all orienteers, with points accumulate over the year for different OY events. The events encourage people to test their navigation in a variety of challenging events. If you are not a club member, you can still run in any grade, competition or not: you just will not collect points for the Pelorus Challenge.
To qualify you must run in the same grade throughout the year.
Each grade winner at each event gets 25 points; other competitors' points are based on their time, proportional to the winner's, down to a minimum of 5 points.
Planner and Controller each get full points, i.e. 25 points.
There were a number of events on offer this year. Each event will accumulate points towards your final total. Your worst event score will be deleted.
