This is the third OY for 2026 on Sunday, 24 May, at Big Bush, Nelson Lakes National Park, St. Arnaud, and part of NOC's Two Days of Orienteering weekend. The courses are designed by Zefa Fa'avae, with Tide Fa'avae taking care of the controlling.
There will be four different difficulty levels to choose from: White, Yellow, Orange and Red. Within the Red level, there will be three different lengths. The start window is 10AM - 12.30 PM. Course closure 3PM.
More information on the course length and number of controls still to come.
Each year, MOC and NOC combined run an Orienteer of the Year (OY) competition across all the grades and levels, per club, known as the Pelorus Challenge. This competition is not just for elite orienteers, they are for all orienteers, with points accumulate over the year for different OY events. The events encourage people to test their navigation in a variety of challenging events.
