Purple Pen is free course-setting software for orienteering, with a simple user interface, making it easy to design orienteering courses and the associated control descriptions, even for beginners. Purple Pen is used for most of the Nelson Orienteering Club events, from the Summer Sprint Series to our popular NOCturnals.

The software runs on Windows 7 through Windows 10. On Mac or Linux, a Windows emulator such as Parallels or VirtualBox is required.

Katie Malthus is planning an informal, free training session on how to use Purple Pen on Friday 19 September, either late afternoon or early evening. The course is intended for people interested in the software, as well as NOC members interested in planning a Sprint for the Summer Sprint Series or a rogaine like one of our NOCturnals.

Interested? Please contact Katie via email (noc.secretary@gmail.com) before midnight Thursday 18 September.
