Summer Sprint Series 3 & 4 - Saltwater Baths & Sanctuary Ponds, Motueka
- Sunday 8 March 2026
- 10:00 am - 1:30 pm
- Motueka Recreation Centre, Old Wharf Road, Motueka, Tasman, 7120, New Zealand
The Summer Sprint Series events 3 and 4 will both take place in Motueka on Sunday 8 March. Two events on the same day should give you all the reason you need to make the drive to explore some cool new areas. Both maps are a mix of urban coastal parks/walkways and bush tracks, and they are very flat: planned by Darren Ashmore, and controlled by Rebecca Smith.
All courses will require participants to cross both Trewavas Street (Event 3) and Old Wharf Road (Event 4), as well as several carpark areas. Although these are not major roads and should be very quiet on a Sunday morning, care will need to be taken when crossing them.
The Event Centre/Registration will be here at the Motueka Recreation Centre. Park in the carpark, or on Old Wharf Road.
Event 3 - Saltwater Baths: Event 3 will start and finish here at York Park Reserve, 1.2km from the event centre. There is limited parking (though plenty on Trewavas Street) if you want to drive there and back. Alternatively, there is a very nice trail that leads from the Motueka Recreation Centre via the Estuary Walkway directly to the Start/Finish. This would be a great warm-up/warm-down.
If you have pre-registered and have your own SI card, you can make your way directly to the Event 3 start. If not, you will have to go via the Event Centre/Registration first to pick up your hired SI card.
There are NO toilets at the Start/Finish of Event 3, but there are some at the Saltwater Baths carpark, which all courses will pass by.

Important: After completing Event 3, you must 'download' your SI card at the Event Centre/Registration before starting Event 4.
Event 4 - Sanctuary Ponds: Remember to 'Clear and Check' before starting Event 4. The Start/Finish for Event 4 is be adjacent to Registration. There are toilets nearby.
Timings:
- The start window for Event 3 will be between 10.00am and 11.00am. The course closes at midday;
- The start window for Event 4 will be between 11.30am and 12.30pm. The course closes at 1.30pm;
- If you would like the longest rest possible between the two events it might be good to start Event 3 close to 10am and Event 4 close to 12.30pm
SportIdent: Timing uses the SportIdent (SI) system - this means that an individual participant needs to either bring his/her own SI-card or hire an SI-card for $3 during the registration process. When running as a group, at least one participant in the group needs to have an SI-card. Hired SI-cards can be picked up from Registration on the day, before going to the Start.
Registration: closes Wednesday, 4 March 2026, at midnight.
