This event describes SSS-3, the morning event in Motueka on Sunday, 8 March
To win, you'll need to run, but walking the course is perfectly fine...
Course setting for both events is done by Darren Ashmore, with Rebecca Smith as the controller.
Online pre-registration required!
The Summer Sprint Series is an excellent introduction to the exciting sport of orienteering: all events take place in an urban environment, navigating the map is pretty straightforward, and it is almost impossible to get lost.
There will be three different courses to choose from: Easy, Medium and Hard. If you are completely new to orienteering, we'd recommend starting with an Easy course - if there is still time within the Start window and you're keen to do a slightly more difficult course (two for the price of one), come back to Registration, explain your wish to do a second course and you'll be set-up for this 'on the spot'.
Timing uses the SportIdent (SI) system - this means that an individual participant needs to either bring his/her own SI-card or hire an SI-card for $3 during the registration process. When running as a group, at least one participant in the group needs to have an SI-card. Hired SI-cards can be picked up from Registration on the day, before going to the Start.
The Start Window and the Course closure for both courses are yet to be confirmed closer to the start of the events, as are the exact locations for parking and Start.
Pre-registration for both events closes Wednesday, 4 March 2026, at midnight.
